Koh Lanta is an island in southern Thailand on the west coast of the Andaman Sea. For years, this dream island has been a favorite among backpackers and Thailand connoisseurs, and it remains a true paradise even today. On this island, which is part of the Mu Ko Lanta National Park, you can experience pure nature. But it’s not just the scenery that’s breathtaking. Above all, there are numerous exciting activities at Koh Lanta:
Beautiful beaches, dense jungle, and magical sunsets distinguish this island. Furthermore, it is still idyllic here, and the numerous charming hippie beach bars ensure a relaxed holiday atmosphere.
-
Enjoy some beach time
One of the main reasons to visit Koh Lanta is the beaches. The long stretches of white sand, beautiful coves, turquoise waters and mountainous backdrop make it an extraordinary and photogenic place. Many beaches have sun loungers and umbrellas for rent, which I would recommend as there is very little shade on the sand.

Hire a scooter
The best way to get around the island is on two wheels. Most hotels offer the possibility to rent bicycles and scooters. All I would say is that while a bike may seem tempting at first when temperatures and humidity are high in Koh Lanta, the last thing you want to do is exercise!

Go on an island-hopping tour
Thailand is synonymous with paradise islands! Whichever coastal location you visit in Thailand, you will likely see opportunities for island hopping excursions. I loved this day. I spent the entire trip in a bikini, enjoying the spectacular views and diving into turquoise waters to see colorful fish. , eat delicious Thai food and relax.
It was a reminder that no Wi-Fi or phone signal is good for the soul! The most adventurous part of the day was swimming through Emerald Cave on Koh Mook. This island has a crater in the middle. It was amazing to swim through the dark cave and emerge at the secret beach inside, and yes, the water lived up to the cave’s name!

Enjoy dreamy sunsets on the beach
I had heard about Thailand’s legendary sunsets before my visit and when I saw the first one I was in love! We stayed at the Laguna Beach Club, a small 3-star hotel on the beach at Laem Kho Kwang. It was in a great location, just minutes from the sand. I still remember our first sunset there. We were exhausted from the long journey, but we made it. We toasted the first night of our holiday with happy hour cocktails (a bargain at 120 Thai baht – £3) on the beach, snapped smiling holiday selfies and watched the last golden rays fade.

Feast on incredible Thai food
Before visiting Thailand, I was hesitant about Thai food. I had tried several Thai curries before, but none made me say WOW. I also knew that Thai food is notoriously spicy. Spicy, but could you handle the Thai chili quantities? We were looking for lunch and found a cute beach bar just a few doors from our hotel.
A Pad Thai and a green Thai curry later convinced me. What hearty and flavorful dishes, with hints of kaffir lime, hot chili and the decadent indulgence of coconut milk. Hmm, it makes me hungry just thinking about it.

Treat yourself to some zen time at a yoga class
Yoga is trendy at Koh Lanta. Throughout the island, you will see signs for different courses. Oasis Yoga on Klong Dao Beach comes highly recommended. There you will find a yoga studio (with daily classes), 13 bungalows with pool views, and a restaurant serving healthy dishes. It is a great place to meet like-minded travellers.

Adventure to a waterfall
On our trip, we did not visit any waterfalls, but when I return, I would like to visit Khlong Chak waterfall. With red sand and light green water, it looks spectacular.
-
Kantiang Bay & Viewpoint
A trip to the gorgeous Kantiang Bay in the southern section of the island is perhaps among the greatest things to do in Koh Lanta. This idyllic beach is a real insider’s secret because of the stunning marine colours, towering palm trees, and fine, soft sand. Additionally, Kantiang Bay is still not overly popular with tourists, which contributes to its picturesque ambiance. Small resorts and bungalows that are situated here either right on the water or somewhat above the beach with a beautiful view of the water are equally charming. Additionally, Kantiang Bay is home to the incredibly luxurious Pimalai Resort & Spa!

Reggae & Hippie Bars
The highlight of Koh Lanta is the quaint beach bars, which have almost become a landmark. Hardly any other island in Thailand has a cooler selection of funky beach bars and nowhere else can you find the concentration of larger Jamaica bars, reggae bars and hippie bars. With your toes in the sand and a fresh beer or a delicious cocktail, you can enjoy pure joie de vivre here. The fire shows that many bars put on for their guests at night are also great. these bars all over
Koh Lanta.
You will find a particularly large selection at Klong Khong Beach and Relax Beach.

Lanta Animal Welfare
Do you love animals, want to do something good and at the same time have unforgettable Koh Lanta experiences? Then it would help if you visited Lanta Animal Welfare. This non-profit organization has been concerned with the welfare of the street. Dogs and cats. During a guided tour of the animal shelter, you will get an insight into the great work of the volunteers, and if you are interested, you can also help with animal welfare yourself. In the café, you can spend time with the cute cats and give them love and pampering.
There is also the possibility of walking the dogs. Speaking of donations, the organization would be happy to receive a small gift from visitors!
