Bang Nam Pheung Floating Market

Bang Nam Pheung Floating Market

Bang Nam Pheung Floating Market is a tranquil but bountiful explosion of authentic Thai culture. Surrounded by greenery and rural settlements, Bang Nam Pheung has a simple and peaceful charm. Visitors can navigate the river by boat, where they can choose from unusual foods, local produce, farm products, and souvenirs displayed along its banks. Scattered throughout Thailand, in every city with its river, you’ll find many Talad Name or “floating markets.” Although there are many, the Bang Nam Phueng floating market is close to Bangkok, just a few kilometers away.

More popular with locals than tourists (who tend to flock to the Damnoen Saduak floating market) and is authentic and quintessentially Thai. The Chao Phraya River in the Bang Nam Phueng is only open on weekends and has its needs. They are packed with local and global visitors, both locals and tourists. With a wide range of sweet and savory Thai delicacies, exotic foods, handicrafts, souvenirs, this market and even potted plants, this market has a lot to offer.

Highlights:

Many street signs point to Bang Nam Pheung market – the river is narrow, with only 5-6 boats cooking traditional Thai food. Along the river bank are rows of low tables under a long thatched roof. Bang Nam Pheung Market is surprisingly authentic as locals mainly frequent it. For everyone, it is an opportunity to discover and taste local foods, sweets and unusual fruits. The general atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. People are amiable, especially if you want to try interesting dishes at the market.
