BTS Skytrain

BTS Skytrain

A BTS Sky Train is an elevated electric train that runs through the major cities of Bangkok. As the traffic in Bangkok can be pretty hectic, they have found a solution to overcome the congestion in the town through Bangkok’s development. Mass Rapid Transit is known as the Sky Train. This is a significant tourist attraction as it offers them the most convenient way to get around Bangkok and its surroundings. It’s a popular mode of transportation and faster than taking a taxi. It has two lines, Sukhumvit and Silom, serving the city and intersecting at Siam Railway Station.

Station Layout:

All stations in the system are elevated and built on three levels. The street level provides access to the actual station by stairs and often escalators and elevators. Utilities (generators, water tanks) are generally located on traffic islands at this level. On the first elevated level of the stations are the ticket offices, and some small kiosk-like shops and ticket offices. The second level (and the third at Siam Station) is again reached by stairs, elevators and escalators and contains the platforms and rails.

Except Siam, Ha Yaek Lat Phrao and Samrong stations, the stations follow a side platform design. Siam station uses island platforms to facilitate inter-platform interchanges between the two lines. The distances between the doors are the same throughout the train, whether in the same carriage or different carriages, and the locations where the exits are located after the train has stopped are marked on the platform. The platforms are designed for six-car trains, but only four-car trains run. Security personnel are stationed at every venue and ticket hall.

Ticketing:

Fare is calculated based on distance. Beginning in 2007, a prepaid card called the BTS Smartpass was sold. In May 2012, it was replaced by a new prepaid ticket called the Rabbit Card. Rabbit Card is an electronic payment card system that allows holders to pay for BTS and BRT tariffs with a single card. Rabbit cards can also pay for other BTS-related services and restaurants.

Currently, all three of Bangkok’s train systems (Skytrain, MRT and Airport Rail Link) require the purchase of separate tickets to travel on the network. This is considered a significant development oversight.

Terminal Stations:

The terminal stations and physical ends of the lines are Khu Khot, Kheha, National Stadium, and Bang Wa. Some trains terminate earlier and run in the opposite direction at Wat Phra Sri Mahathat, Ha Yaek Lat Phrao, Mo Chit (rare), Samrong, and Krung Thon Buri BTS (helper train). This allows for more frequent trains on the middle sections without additional investment in wagons.

Escape Bangkok Chocked Traffic:

To eliminate traffic congestion and smooth traffic flow on Bangkok’s main thoroughfares, an elevated public light rail system was built in 1999. The BTS Skytrain is one of the most popular ways to get around Bangkok. A great way to escape from traffic jams, taxi drivers and cheaper but not very comfortable buses. The BTS Skytrain saves tourists valuable time; you should take them because they are comfortable, fast, spotless, air-conditioned and punctual. The benefits of using a BTS Skytrain cannot be overstated.

On the one hand, it is the most convenient way to travel from one place to another in Bangkok. Other advantages are that it is easy to use and respects the environment since no gases are released; It’s fast and reasonably priced. The Sukhumvit Line runs north of central Bangkok from Mo Chit to the east of major On Nut. Visit top attractions and must-see places like the Chatuchak Weekend Market, the king of all shopping.
