Fisherman’s Village Samui

Fisherman’s Village Samui

Fisherman’s Village Samui is a historic part of Bophut, with cottage-style buildings housing boutique shops, trendy restaurants, and a small selection of hotels along the narrow Beach Road. Every Friday, the entire area becomes the scene of the Fisherman’s Village Walking Street Market, which attracts many shoppers from all over the island due to the incredible variety of goods and lively atmosphere. This old part of Bophut Beach gets its name because it was once home to a thriving fishing community. The fishermen moved on and the central pier collapsed. Despite this, the old wooden shops remain, with a maze of narrow streets between many of them, giving the Village a charming old-world look and feel.

Fisherman’s Village has one main area: one long street lined with shops, cafes, and restaurants. You will, of course, find all the traditional Thai food on offer, but you will also find other cuisines. With a real mix of restaurants, you’re sure to find something delicious and to your liking. There are also many small stylish shops and boutiques selling various goods, souvenir shops, and massage parlors.

What are the highlights and features of Fisherman’s Village Samui?

Many buildings on the beach side of the road are open-backed and offer stunning views across the sea towards Koh Phangan. These are primarily restaurants, many of which have tables on the sand of the adjacent beach. Many of these specialize in Thai seafood, but you’ll also find a wide range of western and international offerings and even a pub or two. With its rustic appearance, a wide range of boutique shops, restaurants, and places to stay, and the weekly Fisherman’s Village Samui market, Samui is particularly popular with visitors. It particularly appeals to couples, older travelers, and travelers on a tight budget.

The scenic Main Street is an attraction any day of the week and is particularly striking at dusk.
