Half Moon Party in Thailand – The Complete Guide

Half Moon Party in Thailand – The Complete Guide

While the Full Moon Festival has been held on Haad Rin Nok beach since 1985, a young local DJ decided about 16 years ago to move his party from the beach to the rainforest of Ko Phangan. This created the crescent party, a tropical paradise that comes alive every crescent moon. Since then, Half Moon Party has grown to eclipse all other parties on the island in organization and production quality.

What is the Half-Moon Party?

The Crescent Festival symbolizes the power of liberty, love, unity, and freedom of speech on crescent nights. It takes place twice a month, one week before and one week after the Full Moon Party. Although it complements the Full Moon Party, it has its own business. It takes place in a forest north of Ban Tai village, between Thong Sala and Haad Rin. Local DJs use CD players for a night out.

Although the entrance fee for the Crescent Party is higher than for the Full Moon Party, the Crescent Party is organized by a private company and is less chaotic. Security makes the Crescent Party much calmer and safer.
