King Rama IX Park

King Rama IX Park

Bangkok’s largest public park, King Rama IX Park, is a botanical garden established in 1987 to celebrate King Bhumibol’s 60th birthday. This beautiful course is spread over 200 hectares and is perfect for just strolling around or spending an afternoon with the family. It also has a gallery of photos and paintings of the king. Every December, the park also hosts a beautiful flower festival. King Rama IX Park is a popular tourist spot in Bangkok.

It is a spacious area carefully planned to showcase the nature of Thailand and provide an ideal environment for relaxation and enjoyment. It is currently the largest park in Bangkok. Winter is the best time to visit King Rama IX Park when the flowers are fully bloomed and the Flower Festival takes place.

Activities at the Park

In addition to visiting the Botanical Gardens and attending the annual Flower Festival, there are many things to do in the 200-acre King Rama IX Park: Paddle in duck- and swan-shaped rowboats across the lake that borders the pier. They are offered for rent for half an hour at reasonable prices. Take part in tai chi or aerobics. Tour the entire park on a toy train. Join the outdoor gym to get some exercise. Children can play indoors with a supply of toys and games provided by the authorities.

King Rama IX Park Flower Festival

During the year’s second half, preferably the first week of December, an annual flower festival is held at King Rama IX Park to celebrate the former king’s birthday. Foreign tourists make the show a resounding success. Numerous flowers with common and rare species are exhibited at the fair. The show begins with a religious recitation by Buddhist monks who pay their respects to the late king. Bhumibol Adulyadej. Aside from the beautiful flowers, the park also has an art exhibition and one dedicated to His Majesty King Bhumibol. Local gardeners and flower lovers take this opportunity to buy plants, seeds and bulbs, and gardening tools from the park.

Botanic Garden at King Rama IX Park Bangkok

A large botanical garden is located right in King Rama IX Park. It includes a vast collection of outdoor and indoor trees and plants in greenhouses created to represent the colonial past.

Chinese Gardens

The Chinese garden area has been designed with a quaint old wooden pavilion hidden behind a wall, suitably designed. Numerous species of cacti are planted in the American section. Reminiscent of the Nevada desert without the hot sand and harsh weather.

Dome adventure:

Young children will especially enjoy the presence of a large dome that looks futuristic and is reminiscent of one of the Star Trek adventures. The Italian gardens are immaculate and tidy in comparison and boast various fountains. The plants are carefully trimmed, and the hedges are perfectly maintained.

How to reach King Rama IX Park

King Rama IX Park, traditionally known as Suan Luang Rama IX, is located on Sukhumvit Soi 103. However, it is far from Bangkok’s city center, and most visitors prefer to take the BTS to Udom Suk. After that, hire a taxi for 70 THB to reach the park gates. It takes about 30 minutes by taxi for the whole way and costs about THB 150.
