Flying from Chiang Mai is the best way to reach this secluded sanctuary. You can also take a minibus, although any route across the mountains is challenging, and you can expect some nausea due to the switchbacks. You’ll be captivated once you get to Mae Hong Son.

If Doi Inthanon National Park piques your interest, but you don’t have time to complete the entire loop, you can still visit it from Chiang Mai. Various guided trips with varying hiking difficulties and durations can take you right from the city to the countryside.
