Money Exchange in Bangkok

Money Exchange in Bangkok

Some visitors to Thailand understandably want the benefit of having Thai baht in their possession upon arrival in the country. Still, if you want the best exchange rate, you will have to wait until you arrive in Thailand. Exchanging money in Thailand is a simple process, but there are a few things to consider to get the best rate available. Exchanging money in Bangkok is a relatively simple process. Choosing where to exchange your money can have a remarkable impact. Impact on the number of baht you will have in your wallet. Thrifty travelers should try to avoid the big banks in malls and popular tourist spots as higher rents are passed on to the customer in the form of commission fees.

Remember how much time it takes to find the best exchange rates. When you add lost time and taxi fares, many may take advantage of a big bank despite the low exchange rate. Many department stores accept major foreign currencies, such as the US dollar and Japanese yen, but expect relatively low exchange rates. And remember that you must have your passport to exchange money in Bangkok.

Which banks in Thailand give reasonable Rates:

Exchange rates can fluctuate, so you will need to make your price comparison in Thailand, but in general, Kasikorn Bank and Bangkok Bank branches tend to offer competitive rates. Independent money changers like Super Rich (cash only, no traveler’s checks) generally offer better rates than any bank offering. Still, there are fewer of these outlets, and you have to consider the convenience and cost of getting to the point of sale. Super Rich or other similar forex exchanges are good choices if you make big trades or are near one of their outlets.

Superrich International Exchange

Superrich is one of the most famous money exchange companies in Bangkok. They have multiple branches across the city, from kiosks at select BTS Skytrain stations to small shops along Pratunam and Chitlom.

Vasu Exchange

Vasu Exchange is located in the Nana district of Sukhumvit. , near Soi 7/1. Conversions here are very competitive and are guaranteed to be better than most Thai or international banks.

Through Credit Cards

In times of digital transactions, it is only sometimes necessary to exchange cash when traveling abroad. Credit card payments are prevalent, especially in shopping malls or fancy restaurants. Credit card fraud is not a big problem in Bangkok. However, it’s always a good idea to have cash with you for small purchases, taxi rides and market visits.

WHAT EXCHANGE RATE WILL I GET?

Exchange rates can fluctuate, so you will need to make your price comparison in Thailand, but in general, Kasikorn Bank and Bangkok Bank branches tend to offer competitive rates. Independent money changers like Super Rich (cash only, no traveler’s checks) generally offer better rates than any bank offering. CHANGING MONEY INTO THAI BAHT IN YOUR HOME COUNTRY

As discussed above, converting money into baht before arriving in Thailand is unnecessary. Still, I also appreciate that some visitors feel more comfortable having local currency in their wallet or purse upon arrival (e.g., taxis/transport, accommodation and food and drink). You must seek out who offers the best exchange rate in your country of origin, but avoid the temptation to change large amounts of money at your departure airport, where bureaux de change have their market and rates are always worse than what you have previously compared to.
