Pansea Beach stretches almost 400 meters along the west coast of Phuket. Located north of beautiful Surin Beach, this sandy beach is separated from Surin by a small rocky headland. The beach is lined with coconut trees and many exotic species. Both ends offer world-class diving opportunities during the day, while the entire length is a relaxing place to soak up the evening sun. Located on the west coast of Phuket at the north end of Surin Beach, Pansea Beach is a hidden paradise.
Tourists vacationing in Phuket often spend a day at the beach to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. A relaxing Thai massage, hanging out in the beach shacks, and water sports like windsurfing, kayaking, and snorkeling are just a few of the activities here. This secluded beach stretches comfortably between the luxurious Amanpuri Resort and Surin Resort, making Pansea Beach a private beach for both properties. However, since private beaches are not allowed in Thailand, it is also open to the public. Both ends of Pansea Beach are home to magnificent rock formations and numerous coral reefs. The beach also has a beautiful sunset viewpoint.
Good to know about Pansea Beach
Pansea is generally considered the private beach of Surin Phuket and Amanpuri Phuket (which take up 80% and 20% of the beach, respectively). Coastal privatization is illegal in Thailand, so the beach is free for public use. This assumption, combined with the fact that you can only access the beach via The Surin Phuket, means that Pansea Beach is significantly quieter than Surin Beach.
Highlights of Pansea Beach in Phuket
Surin Phuket and Amanpuri Phuket offer many beach bars, sun loungers, umbrellas, and water sports facilities. You can also find some local businesses at Pansea Beach. There’s a small shack at the southern end of the beach that serves reasonably priced drinks and fruits, as well as inflatable floats and air mattresses for rent. Opposite Surin Phuket’s Beach Studio Suites, a group of local masseurs offers traditional massages on the beach. You can rent jet skis directly between the resorts to explore the ocean.
Pansea Beach is a secluded stretch of Phuket. One of the best ways to fully enjoy this beautiful sandy beach is to book a stay at one of the many beach resorts.
The luxury resorts of The Surin (formerly Chedi) and Amanpuri share this magnificent bay at the north end of Surin Beach. Unfortunately, this heavenly enclave is only accessible through the grounds of the two hotels, making it a private beach. It is beautiful for the international jet setter who frequents these resorts.
Where to Stay on Pansea Beach?
Pansea Beach is home to two exclusive hotels: The Surin and Amanpuri Phuket. Both resorts offer a good range of water sports, kayaking, windsurfing, water skiing, and wakeboarding. You can occasionally rent the indispensable jet skis from the locals, but luckily they seem to be rare. Most people who pay the price to find peace are not willing to pay more to disturb it.
The Surin Phuket
The Surin Phuket takes up most of the beachfront with a few thatched umbrellas, a gorgeous black pool, and a few beachfront villas. The beach restaurant is open to external guests and has great places to enjoy the sunset.
