Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World (formerly Siam Ocean World) is an aquarium in Bangkok, Thailand and the largest in Southeast Asia. It covers approximately 10,000 square meters (110,000 sq ft) with hundreds of different species in exhibits totaling approximately 5,000,000 liters (1,300,000 U.gal). Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World aims to provide entertainment and education for visitors. The aquarium seeks to promote appreciation and understanding of the aquatic environment through formal educational programs aligned with Thailand’s standard curriculum.
SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World comprises 12 zones that house more than 30,000 sea creatures. These include famous marine predators such as bull sharks and the giant Pacific octopus. You will also encounter a variety of fish species, such as clownfish, lionfish and many more. There are also seahorses, green sea turtles and penguins! We explore each area during our visit.
We also took a lot of lovely photos of the different sea creatures. So let me share few zones with you through my collection of images below.
Coral Reefs
Begin your SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World adventure at the coral reefs. This section is packed with lots of live coral. And, of course, coral is home to many fish. The area is also known for its cunning predators with unique body designs.
Discover these strange creatures by navigating their habitat as they hunt small fish. To give you a general idea, these are lionfish, scorpionfish and triggerfish.
Rocky shore
Enter Rocky Shore and watch these lovable creatures go about their daily routines. You can often see them roaming around on the ground or swimming underwater. You can also see how the Jackass penguins are fed with small fish.
Ocean tunnels
Stroll through the Ocean Tunnel for a face-to-face encounter with iconic predators at SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World. One of the many animals here is the sand tiger shark, known for its creepy eyes and pointy snouts.
Shark Wreck
If you are interested in big sea predators, visit the Shark Shipwreck. In this part, you will have a chance to meet different sharks. You can watch the divers swimming alongside these dangerous creatures from your seat.
Tropical Ocean
Tropical Ocean is another must-see aquarium for its lively fish. Take time to see the longfin bannerfish and appreciate their beautiful white and yellow colors. There are also yellowfin surgeonfish that change color as they age.
Sea Horse kingdom
Now it’s time to explore the seahorse kingdom. This area is home to some unique marine species: seahorses. Catch them swimming upright, copying the color of the seaweed to avoid sea predators. This area at SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World Aquarium is also home to the potbellied seahorses. Because of their bulging tummy, they seem to be pregnant. Another highlight you will see here is alligator pipefish.
Rainforest Adventure
Keep up the excellent work, and visit Rainforest Adventure. This section will take you on a unique experience with various tropical creatures. And as you stroll through the artificial jungle, encounter the world’s largest species of turtle, the green sea turtle. Some sea creatures in this tank are Arapaimas, Khela Mahseers, and Black Diamond Rays. Also present are oriental small-clawed vipers, said to be the smallest of their kind.
Don’t let its bright colors fool you! Bumblebee dart frogs and blue poison dart frogs are among the most venomous at SEA LIFE Bangkok Aquarium.
Penguin ice playground
Have fun with the adorable creatures in Penguin Ice Adventure. In this area of SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World, you will meet the gentoo penguins. Watch them swim and show off their impressive underwater moves. Because of their skills, they can even dive at least 400 times a day!
Visit not only the Gentoo penguins but also the penguin playground. This is an excellent entertainment site for families with children. Let them play with the genuine creatures on the screen.
