Wat Chalong is a historical landmark and Buddhist temple in Phuket’s Chalong Bay. For centuries, locals have come to pray almost every day while westerners take their vacations to learn about Buddhism. It’s officially called Wat Chaitararam, but most people call it Wat Chalong. The temple is located on Chao Fa West Road in the northern part of Tambol Chalong. Many locals claim that the temple often witnesses many miracles.
He is also known for his central healing role in the struggle between the Chinese (Angyee) secret societies in 1876.

Poh Than Jao Wat is one of Wat Chalong’s most important Buddhist statues. It is housed in the temple’s old west hall, alongside two statues of an ancient lord named Ta Khee-lek. He was a well-known local who frequently won lotteries after consulting the Poh Than Jao Wat statue. Another prominent statue in this room is Nonsi. A gold-covered statue of Luang Poh Cham can be found in one of Wat Chalong’s rooms.

It has wax models of Luang Poh Cham, Luang Poh Chuang, Luang Poh Gleum, and Luang Pu Thuad, as well as antique Thai furniture and Benjarong china.

How to get to wat Chalong:
Wat Chalong is located about 8 kilometers southwest of Phuket Town. The Buddhist temple is on the left side of the road if you are coming from Central Phuket Floresta Shopping Center via Chao Fah Nok Road (Chao Fa West Road). If you’re coming from Patong, Wat Chalong is about 18 kilometers southeast of the famous Phuket Beach.
Wat Chalong is easy to find on the Chaofa Road between Phuket Town and Chalong in the south of Phuket Island. Just follow the many signs on the way to Chalong Circle. From Phuket Town, take the “Chaofah Road” towards Chalong. And Rawi. There are two Chaofah Roads: The one you need runs in front of the Central Festival and all the shopping malls.
